Trivia Tuesday: State Symbols Series Q1

Florida possesses a unique geography with a number of distinct climates and ecosystems. As we thought about how diverse our own Palm Beach County is, we started thinking about some of the things that define Florida. We hope you don’t mind jumping a little out of our Palm Beach & County trivia into something a little different. We thought it would be fun to spotlight some of our state symbols - many of which can be found right here at home. We all can probably guess the state reptile (Alligator) or the state beverage (OJ), but how about some of the more “out there” symbols.

Trivia Tuesday: No Cold Shoulder from Palm Beach

Palm Beach has seen a month of record-setting high temperatures, the past four weeks bringing only 5 days under 90℉. The average high has been 92℉, with seven days of 95℉ +!

With that in mind, we are dreaming of ways to cool down and maybe jump ahead to our “winter”. Our average winter temperature is a comfortable 74℉ degrees; we wouldn’t dream of giving our visitors the cold shoulder! In fact, we have a snowball’s chance in Hades of seeing snow here in Palm Beach County. When was the last time that South Florida did see snowflakes fall?

Sea-ing Life Clearly

Sea-ing life clearly is easy when you are in Palm Beach. Our 47-miles of coastline are crystal clear, warm and teeming with sea life. The Atlantic Ocean is wide open with opportunities at beach parks up and down the coast. Investigate tidal pools, snorkel in the shallows, or dive the many reefs and wrecks just off the coast.

Palm Beach Places to Love

Our July/August issue of MARTHA STEWART Living has arrived! And we were happy to see several Palm Beach County locations on this lifestyle guru and team’s “102 Places We Love” list.

According to the article, Martha “always pulls over for” five foods around the U.S. One of them happens to be tacos at Cholo Soy Cocina in West Palm Beach. Located at 3715 South Dixie Highway, they may be calling your name next Taco Tuesday.

Going with the Flow

Are you searching for wide open spaces to spend time, go with the flow and breathe fresh air this summer? We know we are. Palm Beach’s green spaces are a great way to relax, enjoy nature and social distance too! Here are a few great spaces to do just that…

Palm Beach Picassos in Training

The Armory Art Center reopened it doors recently for some “limited space” in-person classes for kids. Through August 7, your Junior and Teen artists (6-18) can attend Summer Camp on campus as well as virtually! Mediums include digital, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture and costume design. For your 4-5 year olds, virtual classes only are available from home. Although the gallery remains closed at this time, the Armory Art Center has designed these class offerings to follow CDC guidelines. But you don’t have to be a kid to join the fun!
