Trivia Tuesday: Run for the (Hollywood) Hills

1920s Palm Beach restaurant dining room with empty tables and palm trees

Forgive us for writing about Addison Mizner so often in our posts, but he seems to be everywhere we look! He was a colorful, larger than life character as well as an important part of Palm Beach history…but wait, this question is about his brother, Wilson! We know it’s a stretch, but there’s a kinda, sorta Palm Beach-Hollywood connection there. So, can you guess what iconic restaurant Wilson Mizner built in Hollywood (CA)?

1) Musso & Frank Grill

2) Pacific Dining Car

3) The Brown Derby

4) Tam O’Shanter

Amassing great wealth in the 1920s, the brothers Mizner embarked on a major undertaking. Addison Mizner, Palm Beach architecture’s golden boy, decided to turn the undeveloped area of Boca Raton into the “Venice of the Atlantic”. When the project went belly up, Mizner went bust and Wilson ran for the (Hollywood) hills and opened the famous hat-shaped Brown Derby restaurant.
