Flavor Palm Beach: Tasty!

Flavor Palm Beach: Tasty!

Your table is waiting. How to decide?

At Charley’s Crab, there’s a Butternut Squash Salad followed by grilled Chicken Tuscano (with tomato basil relish, green beans, artichoke hearts and lemon beurre blanc), capped off with Chocolate Silk flourless torte.

At Brandon’s at the Tideline? Grilled Vegetable Salad and then Burrata (with tomato, basil and aged balsamic on a baguette).

But finally we settled on Café Boulud, where we savored a light, delectable Gazpacho Andalou, and then for the main, Mushroom Risotto with dandelion greens and parmesan. Dessert? The table ordered one of each: Key Lime Pie with pink grapefruit sorbet, Chocolate Crème Brulee, and Cheesecake with fresh strawberries and lemon sorbet.

How did we get this lucky in the middle of the day, in the middle of Palm Beach’s slowest month? It was thanks for Flavor Palm Beach, a month-long celebration that allows diners to sample multi-course offerings from some of the area’s top restaurants... at a sweet little price. The special prix-fixe menu event runs through the end of September.

Our three-course lunch at Café Boulud ran $25 per person, but lunch at many of the other venues starts at $20. Dinners range from $30 to roughly $45, and often sell out. The good news is that you can look at menus and reserve your table online.

Even more good news: The event benefits the Palm Beach County Food Bank, which receives $1 for each diner when reservations are made online.

Other participating restaurants on the island: Al FrescoEchoGraze (at the Four Seasons), ImotoJove Kitchen and Bar (at the Four Seasons), Leopard Lounge (at the Chesterfield), Meat MarketPB CatchRenato’sTemple Orange (at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa), and The Italian Restaurant (at The Breakers). There are also plenty of stars off the island, so be sure to comb the list and find a new favorite!
